It’s actually good that you’re exfoliating your scalp. However, if you’re noticing excessive flakiness every time you use the boar brush, I’d recommend you start using a Ketoconazole shampoo. Excessive flakiness can be caused by yeasts and fungi in the scalp (this is actually very common and can be linked to hair loss). Using a Ketoconazole shampoo like Nizoral will combat this and it will also benefit hair growth because ketoconazole is a mild 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, meaning it can reduce scalp DHT.
If your scalp is becoming red, inflamed or sore, please do not use the boar brush. It’s important to not make your scalp inflamed. Inflammation actually causes hair loss. So the ideal scenario is to use the brush to exfoliate and stimulate blood flow, but, if you notice inflammation in your scalp (eg if it feels sore), don’t use the boar brush.
The Growth Factors serum is designed to reduce inflammation, so with continued use and with use of Nizoral twice per week, you should get your scalp into a healthier condition.
Let’s monitor the flakiness over the next month. We want to get into a position where you can use the boar brush daily with only a very small amount of flakiness and with no prolonged inflammation or soreness. That would indicate to us that your scalp is healthy.
